On January 22, 2023, on the 32nd Sunday after Pentecost, after Theophany, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God in Manchester.
At the Liturgy, His Grace was assisted by the Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern England and Wales, sacristan of the Church, Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Priest Anatoly Vikhrov, and Deacon Paul Wood.
Liturgical hymns were performed by the choir of the Intercession Church conducted by Thomas Anthony Greenan.
Following the prayer behind the ambo, His Grace Vladyka performed the rite of the great consecration of water and addressed the parishioners with words of sermon and spiritual edification.
In consideration of 30 years of service as choir master of the Intercession Church in Manchester, and in connection with the 90th anniversary of his birth, Thomas Anthony Greenan was awarded by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia with the Medal of the Order of "Glory and Honor". Vladyka Matthew cordially congratulated T. A. Greenan and presented to him the Patriarchal award.
On behalf of the clergy, church council and parishioners of the Church of the Intercession, Vladyka Matthew was warmly greeted by Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Deputy Dean of the church.
Communication with the Archpastor continued at the meal arranged by the parish community.
