« Parishioners of the Church of St. Nicholas in Oxford visited the holy well in Binsey »

On Sunday, August 7, 2022, a group from the parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Oxford made a pilgrimage to the holy well of the Great Martyr Marina (Margaret) of Antioch, located on the church grounds of the Church of St. Margaret at Binsey, near to Oxford.
At the spring, the Dean of the Diocesan District of Central England, Rector of the Church of St. Nicholas in Oxford, Archpriest Stephen Platt served a moleben for the blessing of water and sprinkled the pilgrims with holy water.
After the moleben, Father Stephen addressed those present with words of spiritual edification and spoke about the history of this holy place. Almost 1,300 years ago, through the prayers of the Holy Martyr Frideswide, Abbess of Oxford (+735), a spring of water miraculously appeared here, which became famous for its healing properties. Next to the holy spring, the Church of St. Margaret is still preserved, it was built in the 12th century on the site of the cell of St Frideswide, where the patron Saint of Oxford labored for many years.
