« On Christmas Eve, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral in London »

On the morning of January 6, 2024, on the eve of the Nativity of Christ (Christmas Eve), His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy of St.John Chrysostom at the Dormition Cathedral in London.
During the Liturgy, His Eminence was assisted by Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, clergy of the UOC temporarily staying on the territory of the Sourozh diocese, Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch and Deacon Viktor Nikiforov.
Liturgical chants were performed by the choir of the Dormition Cathedral under the direction of Dmitry Tugarinov.
Before the start of the Liturgy, an ark with great Christian shrines (a particle of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, the belt of the Most Holy Mother of God and particles of the holy relics of God's chosen Saints) was carried from the altar to the middle of the church.
At the end of the Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Matthew celebrated Great Vespers.
After the dismissal of Great Vespers, the troparion and kontakion of the Feast of the Nativity of Christ were sung in front of the Christmas candle, symbolising the Star of Bethlehem. After which His Grace the Archpastor addressed the clergy and parishioners with a word of spiritual edification. Simultaneous translation of the sermon into English was provided by Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
