« On Great Thursday, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Liturgy at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Bogorodskoye, Moscow »

On April 21, 2022, on Great Thursday, the day of the Last Supper, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, celebrated the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great in the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Bogorodskoye, Moscow.
At the Liturgy, His Grace was assisted by the Rector of the church, archpriest Damian Kruglik, archpriest Andrey Karpenko, archpriest Sergei Subbotin, priest Mikhail Volkov, and deacon Sergei Kuznetsov.
“Great Thursday occupies a special plac among the days of the Holy Weeke. On this day, the Church commemorates the Last Supper of the Lord Jesus Christ with His disciples, the Apostles.  At the Last Supper the Lord established the main church sacrament - the Eucharist or Communion of bread and wine which are the true Body and Blood of Christ.
Therefore, it is customary to partake the Holy Communion on Great Thursday.  On this day, every believer, following the example of the Apostles, seeks to unite with Christ, becoming a participant in his Last Supper.  During the Divine Liturgy, the prayer “Today, at Thy Mystical Supper, O Son of God, accept me as a partaker…” is said several times; it also replaces the Cherubic Hymn sung before the Great Entrance at the Liturgy.
According to the website of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Bogorodskoye, "the Holy Communion was distributed in 4 locations in the church.  In total, more than 380 people came to Holy Communion in our church this day."
