PROGRAM OF PILGRIMAGE TO WALES, 11-14 FEBRUARY 2024

Dear Pilgrims,

With the blessing of His Grace, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the pilgrimage will take placeto Holy Places of South Wales, 11-14 February 2024.

 

The Pilgrimage will be led by Archpriest Stephen Platt, Rector of St Nicholas Orthodox Church,
Oxford. 

 

The program of the pilgrimage is a s follows:
  •  Sunday 11/2
 Depart after Liturgy
 Caerleon. Roman amphitheatre, baths, and museum - site of martyrdom of Sts Julius and Aaron,   Protomartyrs of Wales
 Overnight in Cardiff
 Free evening
  •  Monday 12/2
 St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church
 Llandaff Cathedral (St Teilo and St Illtyd)
 St Fagans National Museum of History - St Teilo’s Church
 Llantwit Major (St Illtyd)
 Pen Rhys
 Overnight in Llanelli
  •  Tuesday 13/2
 Divine Liturgy
 Bosherton, St Govan’s chapel
 Pembroke
 St Non’s Chapel
 Overnight in St David’s
  •  Wednesday 14/2
 St David’s Cathedral
 Llandeilo
 Partishow (St Issui’s church, holy well, cell and shrine)
 Return to Oxford


The exact cost of the pilgrimage is still to be determined, but will be in the region of and not exceed £300 per adult including a place in the minibus (£200 for children) or £200 using own transport (£150 for children). This would include overnight accommodation and breakfast, but evening meals and lunch would be the responsibility of individual pilgrims. Accommodation will be in shared rooms (single rooms at extra cost should be available), in Travelodge accommodation or similar, in locations close to multiple restaurants and dining options.

 

Message to pilgrims from Fr Stephen:
If you wish to join the pilgrimage , please let me know. This will enable me to go ahead and make booking arrangements if there is sufficient interest. I will respond to those who are interested with more concrete details and booking instructions in due course.
