On January 11, 2025, Saturday after the Nativity of Christ, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh and members of the Diocesan Assembly of the Sourozh Diocese prayed and received the Holy Mysteries of Christ at the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Intercession in Manchester.
With the blessing of His Grace, the divine service was celebrated by the Dean of the Diocesan District of Central England, Archpriest Stephen Platt, assisted by Deacon Alexei Kostyanovsky.
The chants of the Liturgy were performed by the combined choir of the Intercession Church and the parishes of the Sourozh Diocese, under the direction of Apollinaria Postlethwaite.
After the litany of fervent supplication, a prayer was recited for the granting of peace.
After the dismissal of the Liturgy, Archpriest Stefan Platt delivered a sermon.
At the end of the service, His Grace Bishop Matthew addressed the participants of the Diocesan Assembly with words of greeting and presented the Intercession Church with an icon of St. John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco, with a particle of his holy relics, donated to the Sourozh Diocese by Archbishop Kirill of San Francisco and Western America (ROCOR).
After the divine service, a meeting of the Diocesan Assembly of the Sourozh Diocese was held.
