« Parish of St. Nicholas in Oxford provided church housing for refugees from Ukraine »

The parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Oxford, Diocese of Sourozh, provided temporary accommodation for two families of refugees from Ukraine. The church house in the village of Kidlington, located 5 miles north of Oxford, could accommodate 6 people - two women and four children.
The house became the property of the parish in 2020 and, according to the will of the parishioner of the Oxford church, Susanna Bailey, should be used for works of mercy. After a major renovation of the dilapidated premises, which was carried out mainly by young volunteers of the parish, the Rector of the church, archpriest Stephen Platt, consecrated the house on June 30, 2022, and thanked all those who had worked for their personal contribution and help.
After the consecration, Father Stephen and the parishioners congratulated the new settlers at a meal arranged by the parish community.
