« Services resumed in the Parish of St David of Wales, Derby »

On Saturday 7th May, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Parish of St David of Wales, Derby, in the historic chapel of St Mary on the Bridge. It was the first time in over two years that the liturgy had been celebrated, following a long interval resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic.
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the rector of the parish, Archriest Daniel Joseph, who presided at the liturgy, was assisted by Archpriest Stephen Platt, dean of the Central England district of the diocese. They were joined by Deacon Jonathan Cowley (Archdiocese of  Orthodox Churches of Russian Tradition  in Western Europe, Deanery of Great Britain and Ireland).
During the Divine Liturgy, prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine.
At the end of the liturgy, Fr Stephen preached a sermon on the forthcoming Sunday of the Holy Myrrh-Bearers, and the importance of service as a path to God. Fr Stephen thanked Fr Daniel for the opportunity to serve together, and conveyed greetings from His Grace Bishop Matthew to all those present.
The Divine Liturgy was followed by a community meal and a meeting to discuss plans to resume regular services in the parish.
