On May 6, 2022, a patronal celebration took place in the Church of the Great Martyr George the Victorious in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The service was headed by priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern England and Wales, Rector of the church, assisted by priest Anatoly Vikhrov and priest Viktor Akhryapin.
Before the start of the Divine Liturgy, a water-blessing moleben was celebrated, after which father Anatoly sprinkled the church with holy water.
Prayers for peace in Ukraine were lifted up after rhe augmented litany.
Following the prayer behind the ambo, a procession around the church took place, after which Father Dimitri addressed those present with words of a sermon on the theme of the feast. The Rector congratulated the clergy and parishioners on the patronal feast, especially noting the work of the founder of the parish, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, who, being a presbyter, more than 10 years ago was at the forefront of organizing parish life in Newcastle. Father Dimitri warmly congratulated Father Anatoly on his name day and thanked him for the ministry that Father Anatoly carried out during his service in St. George's Church. Words of gratitude were also addressed to the cleric of the church, priest Viktor Ahryapin, who now carries out daily pastoral work in the church. Father Anatoly and Father Victor were presented with valuable gifts.
