On October 16, 2022, a patronal celebration took place at the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God in Manchester. With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the patronal feast was moved from October 14 to the next Sunday.
The Divine Liturgy was officiated by Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern England and Wales, concelebrated by clerics of the deanery Priest Anatoly Vikhrov and Priest Viktor Akhryapin.
The liturgical chants were performed by the parish choir, conducted by Thomas Anthony Greenan.
After the augmented litany, a prayer for peace was lifted up.
At the end of the Liturgy, a festive procession with the icon of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God took place.
Then Archpriest Dimitry addressed the parishioners with words of a sermon on the theme of the feast and conveyed the blessing of His Grace Vladyka Matthew and his congratulations on the feast day.
Separately, words of greeting were addressed to the church choir master T.E. Greenan, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Father Dimitry thanked Tony for many years of work in the church and presented a bouquet of flowers and a memorable gift on behalf of Vladyka Matthew.
At the end there was a festive meal and a concert of the students of the church Pokrov Sunday school.
