« Archbishop Nestor Appointed Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe »

On October 13, 2022, at a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, the issue of appointing bishops abroad was discussed (Journal No. 96).
The meeting participants decided to release Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk from the position of Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, expressing gratitude to him for the work he had done.
Archbishop Nestor of Madrid and Lisbon was appointed Archbishop of Korsun and Western Europe, Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, with temporary retention of administration of the Spanish-Portuguese Diocese.
