« His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA met with the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America »

On September 25, 2019, a working visit to the United States of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, temporary  Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States and Canada, has began.
On the first day of his visit, Bishop Matthew visited the Administrative Center of the Orthodox Church in America in Sayoset, where he met with His Beatitude Archbishop Tikhon of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada.  The hierarchs prayed and communed of the Holy Mysteries of Christ at the Divine Liturgy in the Cross Church in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh, whose memory is celebrated on this day according to the new style calendar.
At the end of the service, Bishop Matthew cordially greeted Metropolitan Tikhon, the clergy and the staff of the administrative center on the occasion of the memory of Heavenly Protector - St. Sergius.  Vladyka Matthew announced the welcome addresses from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and from the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk on the occasion of His Beatitude' coming name's day and presented to him the icon of the royal martyrs and a bouquet of flowers.
During the conversation, which took place in a warm fraternal atmosphere of mutual understanding, issues of cooperation between the Russian and American Orthodox Churches, as well as relevant topics of inter-Orthodox interaction were discussed.  The parties discussed the preparation for commemorative events next year, dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the beginning of the Orthodox mission by the Valaam monks on the North American continent and the 50th anniversary of granting the autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in America by the Russian Orthodox Church.
The meeting was also attended by Archpriest Alexander Rentel, managing director of the Orthodox Church in America, Archdeacon Joseph Matusyak, Secretary of the Orthodox Church in America, priest Mark Rashkov, representative of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Representation in the USA, and personal secretary of Bishop Matthew N.V. Trubnikov.
