« On the 9th Sunday after Pentecost, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh headed the Divine Liturgy in the Dormition Cathedral in London »

On August 18, 2019, on the 9th Sunday after Pentecost, forefeast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, memory of the passion bearer King Oswald of Northumbria, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Dormition Cathedral in London.
The Right  Reverend Archpastor was assisted by Priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Priest Evgeny Selensky and Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
Liturgical chants were sung by the choir of the Cathedral under the direction of Marina Bezmenova.
A.V.  Yakovenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Great Britain,  was praying at the service.
At the end of the Liturgy, Vladyka Matthew addressed the clergy and parishioners with words of preaching and spiritual edification.
In connection with the completion by A.V.  Yakovenko of his diplomatic mission in the United Kingdom, which  was carried out by the Ambassador for almost 9 years, Vladyka thanked Alexander Vladimirovich for his many years of assistance and active participation in the life of the London parish and the Diocese of Sourozh.  Emphasizing the constant attention to the needs of the clergy, parishioners and compatriots living in Great Britain, Vladyka Matthew wished Alexander Vladimirovich God's help in his further diplomatic service and presented him, as a blessing, with the holy cross.  In response, the Ambassador thanked Vladyka Matthew, the clergy and parishioners of the Cathedral for their love, prayers and support in his work, noting that, over the years, the Dormition Cathedral has become a real spiritual home for himself and for his family, and that it will remain  in their memory forever.
