On March 2, 2019, on the Universal parental meatfare Saturday, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral in the city of London.
His Grace was assisted by Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, Archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk and Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
At the Augmented litany, petitions were said for the unity of the Orthodox Church and the preservation of the Church from divisions and schisms. After the Augmented litany, the Right Reverend Archpastor offered a prayer for peace in Ukraine.
After the Divine Liturgy, Vladyka Matthew, together with the clergy of the Cathedral, served Panikhida for all those who have fallen asleep throughout the ages, and then addressed the believers with a word of edification.
On the eve, on Friday, March 1, there was the 21st anniversary of Vladyka’s ministry in the holy order and, in this connection, Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky addressed the Archpastor on behalf of the clergy and parishioners of the Cathedral. In his congratulations Father Maxim noted Vladyka Matthew' apostolic activities and thanked Vladyka for his fatherly care for the clergy and the flock of the Sourozh diocese, and wished him many years of health.
