« Bishop Matthew of Sourozh co-served with Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk during the All-Night Vigil on the eve of the Feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the Trinity-St.Sergius Lavra »

On October 7, 2019, celebrations on the occasion of commemorating St. Sergius of Radonezh begun at the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra. 
Upon the end of the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, held at the Patriarchal chambers of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia headed the small Vespers with reading the akaphistos to the Hegumen of the Russian land in front of the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the monastery's Trinity Cathedral.
According to tradition, festive hierarchical services on the eve of the day of memory of the Hegumen of the Russian land are held in all churches of the monasteries, which were founded by him.  With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill,  Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for external church relations, headed the All-Night vigil at the Lavra church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles.  Metropolitan Hilarion was assisted by Bishop Lazarus of Narva and Prichudsk, Bishop Nektarios of Livensk and Maloarchangelsk, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, and the brethren of the monastery.
During his trip, Vladyka Matthew is accompanied by his personal secretary N.V.  Trubnikov.
